What is a green home?
A green home pays attention to energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, the use of sustainable or recycled products, and measures to protect indoor air quality. More
How do I know a product is green? 
Look for these Environmental attributes:
  • Minimizes exposure to concentrates
  • No ozone depleting substances
  • Recyclable packging
  • Recycled-content in packaging
  • Reduced bioconcentration factor
  • Reduced flammability
  • Reduced or no added dyes, except when added for safety purposes
  • Reduced or no added fragrances
  • Reduced or no skin irritants
  • Reduced or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
  • Reduced packaging

ISSA, the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association, provides information on green cleaning products and the implementation of green cleaning programs.

Green Seal, Cleaning Products
Green Seal is an independent, nonprofit organization that sets environmental standards and awards a Green Seal of Approval to products that cause less harm to the environment than other similar products. Green Seal has consensus-based standards for a variety of cleaning products. These standards and a list of qualified products are available on the Green Seal Web site.
